Agility Classes

Having our own centre means that we are now able to offer not only agility classes (for all levels) but also agility training days with many of the countries top agility competitors and instructors.

I (Linda) have been competing, judging and teaching agility for over 25 years and although no longer able to compete (due to a spinal injury) I continue to love to teach agility- from absolute beginner to championship level. Along with instructing in both the agility and obedience classes we also run the Whitstable Agility Group Shows here at Pet Lodge in the indoor arena.

Dogs should be 1 year of age (or very close to one year) before commencing agility training as I believe that puppies should be puppies before full training is started. However, you can teach your dog many action commands, turns, etc in its general day life which will assist your agility training when they become a year old.

Dogs can learn to do the obstacles over a period of about 8 weeks but it tends to take the handler a lot longer to learn how to handle courses and become a partnership with their dog – and in all honesty you never stop learning different techniques – even after many years in the sport!

If you are interested in our agility training classes, please feel free to contact us and we will be able to advise you of the dates and locations of the next starters courses. Alternatively, if you have an experienced dog and are interested in joining our club we will be able to advise of any spaces which may be available.
